An Open Letter to Miss Rachel: From One Mama to Another
Dear Miss Rachel,
If there were a Mount Rushmore for modern-day mom heroes, your face would absolutely be carved right next to the inventor of the air fryer and whoever decided that leggings count as real pants. You are an everyday hero for moms, giving us moments of peace while our toddlers sing, dance, and learn along with you. You, Miss Rachel, are the unsung co-parent to millions of us who just need ten minutes to eat something that’s not cold, answer an email, or, heaven forbid, drink coffee before it turns into iced coffee by accident.
My 16-month-old adores you. And when I say adore, I mean her entire soul lights up the second she hears your “Hi, friends!” from across the room. I could be mid-meltdown (mine, not hers), and suddenly the room fills with her laughter as she claps along to “Wheels on the Bus” and “Icky Sticky Bubble Gum.” At that point, you might as well have handed me a golden ticket to five peaceful minutes of mom freedom.
Because of you, I’ve rediscovered the joy of eating with both hands again. I can cook an actual meal without performing Olympic-level toddler distraction maneuvers. I’ve even had the sacred, near-mythical experience of finishing my coffee hot. Sometimes, when she’s fully immersed in your cheerful world, I just stand there in quiet gratitude, whispering a little thank-you to the screen like a mom who’s just been blessed by the patron saint of developmental milestones. It’s a relief to have resources like you or even Nex Playground that make guilt-free screen time possible for parents like me.
Her favorite part of the day is when I bring out her Miss Rachel doll. The look on her face? Pure, unfiltered happiness. She hugs that doll like it’s her best friend, giggling every time she hears your voice. And honestly, watching that bond reminds me that you’re not just another kids’ show personality. Miss Rachel, you truly are the everyday hero for full-time moms like me. You’re teaching, nurturing, and reminding us parents that learning can be gentle, fun, and full of joy at the same time.
You’ve built something that bridges screens and hearts. You’ve given parents the gift of guilt-free minutes, and little ones the wonder of words, songs, and gestures that shape their world. In an age where overstimulation is everywhere, you’ve managed to make simplicity powerful again.
So, thank you, Miss Rachel. For the calm in the chaos. For being the soundtrack to our (late) mornings, the reason I get through work calls uninterrupted (mostly), and the friendly face that makes my toddler beam brighter than the morning sun. You are, quite literally, this mama’s everyday hero, and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.
Signed,
Jalyn
